Skype session was conducted on 1st Feb. 2018 with the students of school Makassed Khalil Shehab , Lebanon. During this session students of Class V participated in a skype literacy project to celebrate the Read aloud world day . The students from both the schools exchanged self composed poem on the need of “Peace and Harmony” in the World. The poem recited by the young hearts made an appeal for a world full of peace , friendship and love for each other . This was an extremely enriching experience and the students wished to be a part of more such exchanges in the future.
Students of class III had fun in checking their understanding on farming tools and topics when they participated in a quiz on Kahoot. They also made a Pictionary (pictorial dictionary) on farming tools on Padlet.
Students of Class III, IV and V had an enriching Skype Session on “Use of Minecraft in Math Education” with Dean Vendramin from Regina Canada. The session, led by Ms. Darshana Sinha and Ms. Anjana Sharma included basic introduction about Minecraft and how it can be used by students to make interesting games based on mathematical logic. The Guest Speaker explained some basic features of Minecraft and shared screens of some sample games. The session was an eye-opener for students as till date they had only played Minecraft games and were unaware of the fact that they themselves can make amazing games in Minecraft using basics of mathematics and problem-solving skills.
In Who we are unit of inquiry under the theme Organ system students of class IV worked on various activities to support inquiry cycle. As a part of ICT activity students have created e-book on organ system in Microsoft powerpoint. ICT skills developed during this activity are investigating, organizing, creating and collaborating.
Students of Class II got an opportunity to enhance their drawing skills in Ms Paint through learning engagement of making Flash Cards on healthy foods and healthy habits. Students brainstormed ideas to make healthy foods drawing using shapes and learnt to specify page dimensions and use images from Internet to complete their activity. The learning engagement reinforces the central idea ‘Our habits and choices affect our growth and well-being.’
Students of Class III made PowerPoint presentations on Work People Do as learning engagement on UOI 1 under TD theme ‘Work People Do’. Students learnt to animate objects on the slides and also learnt to hyperlink their slides to make interactive presentations.
Class III made comic strips emphasizing on the need to save water as part of their ongoing Inquiry on Water under transdisciplinary theme Sharing the planet.
Students of class II expressed theirunderstanding about seasons and solar system by making popplets on www.popplet.com. They also enumerated causesof global warming and various ways to prevent earth from disastrous effects ofglobal warming.

Students of class II expressed their creative and presentation skills through meaningful engagement activities using ICT. They made pictocharts, posters, drawing and word clouds on festivals. While doing so they got a chance to extend and enrich their understanding about different festivals and their significance in our lives. Some of them expressed their learning in the form of stories. The activity was conducted as part of the ongoing UOI theme How we express ourselves. The activity helped them develop and improve the learner’s profile attributes of being a thinker, knowledgeable, reflective, inquirers and communicators. The activities were differentiated according to the abilities and interests of the students.
Unit of Inquiry: Where We are in Place and Time Class V
The inquiry “Where we are in Place and Time” enlightened the students with various landforms of the world. In ICT activity students have been given choices of varied ICT tools like Animoto (to create online video), makebeliefcomix.com( to create online comic strip), piktochart(to create online posters), popplet.com(mindmapping tool ) as well as few offline tools like PowerPoint , Word. Unit of Inquiry: How we express ourselves Class IV
The inquiry “ How we Express Ourselves” is an innovative amalgamation of education and information. Laying emphasis on intercultural understanding and respect ,as a ICT activity students have created power point presentations, online videos and comic strips to compare the culture of India with other countries. Students have used online tools to depict and present their understanding. Few of their work also shared with the schools in USA Public Arts Magnet School in Charleston, SC, USA. And Public comprehensive high school in Newark, NJ, USA.

Delhi Public School Ghaziabad, Primary Wing celebrated IT week by conducting various activities to make their students smart and techno savvy. All the students and the teachers of Primary Wing joined Edmodo, the online networking tool where the students would be able to connect, communicate and collaborate. An initiative of ‘Most Mesmerizing Message’ was taken to encourage parents to comment on the Christmas Image uploaded on the school’s official Facebook page. On 26 December 2016, Mr Gaurav Gupta, VP Mobility Services at ” To The New Digital” was invited as a guest speaker to conduct a workshop on App development and Cyber security. Another workshop was conducted by the students of Class VI of IT team for fellow students on the topic ‘How to create a Mobile App and a website?’ The students enthusiastically participated in all the endeavors and were benefitted from the same.
In order to develop international mindedness in students and taking learning beyond the classroom, DPSG organised a Skype session for Class 2 on 30 November 2016 on sharing Christmas messages to the world. Brimming with great zeal and enthusiasm our students interacted with students of CEIP –EL Murtal School in Benidorm, Spain. The students of Spanish school shared beautiful 3D models on Christmas and read out Christmas wishes to our students whereas our students shared Christmas cards with messages written on them. The Spanish students also sang a carol on Christmas in Spanish language. The session truly signified the fact that individuals from dissimilar cultures can share joys together. It also enriched students’ understanding about festivals as part of their ongoing inquiry under the theme ‘How we express ourselves ‘.
Unit of Inquiry Sharing the Planet-Class IVAs a part of Sorting out activity, Tuning in activity students have class Iv supported the inquiry cycle through various ICT activities. Students have been introduced with the various website through which they have designed comic strip(makebeliefcomix.com) ,Power Point Presentation, online moviemaking(animoto .com).ICT sklls developed during this activities are investigating, organizing, creating and collaborating.Learner’s Profile Attributes addresses are Thinkers, Knowledgeable and Reflectors.
In How the World Works unit of inquiry students of class V worked on various activities to support inquiry cycle. As a part of sorting out activities students have created Piktocharts online using website www.piktochaart.com. Students have created online comic strips related to energy conservation and use of simple machines on www.makebeliefscomix.com. Some of the class V sections have created the power point presentations on the same topic. Students have also made infographics in MS word. Students have created video on the given situation (hospital, construction site, park, etc.)to depict the various machines, forces and energy they come across in their real life using video making software.

Students of class 2 expressed their gratitude towards community helpers by making a Thank you card for community helpers in Ms Paint. The activity was a reflection of students’ learning about importance of community under the transdisciplinary theme ‘How we organize ourselves’. Students were asked to find out clipart images of their favourite community helper from Internet and then they expressed their thankfulness for that helper through the thank you card. The activity helped in sensitizing students towards the role played by community helpers in society.
The students of class II made pictocharts in Ms Paint on any type of house by describing that house with the help of images taken from Internet. The students were able to reflect on their learning by listing important information about a type of house like material used, places where that type of houses are found/seen, people living in that house, whether it is temporary house or a permanent house.
Students of class III got an opportunity to delve further into their learning about animals as part of their inquiry on life cycles of living beings. They created animalopedia pages on their favourite animals in Microsoft Creative Writer software. The activity not only honed their skills in arranging information in various ways and making a document aesthetically pleasing, it also gave a chance to these tech buddies to explore the fascinating world of animals.
“A picture is worth a thousand words”, the saying was aptly demonstrated by students of class II when they made picture cards on ways to stay healthy and hygienic as part of their ongoing unit on Who We Are. The students got a chance to explore the world of Internet and they learnt to copy the pictures related to their text and paste them in Ms Paint.
International IT day was celebrated on 21st Nov, 2015 in Primary wing. The website www.dpsgwhizkids.com on “Amazing Bharat” and a mobile application “Learning Planet”at www.paptap.com was created by the IT team of class VI. The students conducted the workshop on “How to create the website?” and “How to make the mobile application?” by the students and for the students.
Aviral Bansal of class VI E bagged the IInd position out of 40 participants in the keyboard competition held at ‘ART WORX’ at Raj Nagar on 19th Aug 15.
Students of class II and III of Primary Wing were given an opportunity to be a part of a unique digital excursion, presented by an Aboriginal narrator Guwanyi Walama, that took students on a journey of discovery around the area now known as Bennelong Point. Students heard an oral history from the Aboriginal perspective – from creation time and the ancestral spirits who formed the landscape, to pre-settlement and the arrival of the First Fleet, to today’s iconic Sydney Opera House. They also got a chance to have video conferencing with Swansey Public School, Australia who were also a participant to the program.
