Odyssey of the Mind 2017

Zubronok, Belarus

Odyssey of the Mind, an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities to the students. Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. The aforesaid enables the students to refine their latent skills and use them to the best of their ability at an international level.

Delhi Public School Ghaziabad became a proud member of this prestigious event this year at Zubronok National Health Camp, Belarus from 23 May to 28 May,2017 . After having won at the regional level in September 2016,a highly proficient team of seven members proved their competence and potential at the Eurofest 2017, Odyssey of the Mind, Belarus. An array of activities honed the creative instinct of the students. On the very first day, 23rd May, students participated in the Long Term Competition where in they presented various art works of artists through the time travel concept. The much appreciated performance was followed by a Mixed Team Competition on 28th May, 2017. Our school team worked in accordance with schools from Romania and Poland. The teams worked together and applied their knowledge, skills and talents to come up with an eight minute presentation based on the fairy tales of the above mentioned countries.

In Odyssey of the Mind, the students could acquire skills at such a young age that will last a lifetime. They worked in teams in order to learn team work, cooperation and respect for the ideas of others. They evaluated ideas and made decisions on their own, boosted their confidence and self-esteem. They delved deeper and realized that there are often more than one way to solve a problem, and that sometimes the process is more important than the end result.

Apart from the rich cultural exchange along with the budding bond with other nationalities, the students were left mesmerized by the beauty and magnificence of Belarus. The enriching experience filled their minds with such soulful memories that will surely be cherished by them throughout their life. The school also organized a six day stay at Minsk, the capital of Belarus, in order to provide maximum exposure to the students. The stay fueled their desire to explore and learn in the most appropriate way. It was a huge success replete with fun and frolic where in the students could connect with themselves by introspecting and pondering upon their thought process.

Indeed, Odyssey of the Mind is an immensely rewarding experience that makes students  prosper by tapping into creativity through encouraging imaginative paths by problem solving and sharpening their acclimatization ability.

A heartfelt gratitude to our Principal, Ms. Jyoti Gupta and our Head Mistress, Ms. Krishna Singh for their unwavering support and guidance. Their vision and belief in providing international exposure to the students of DPSG will take students discover new dimensions.
